What do you want to do before you die? Jon Cuthbert (Jon Cuthbert and the Relief / The Hands Up / The Hawks) wanted to record and share his music. Like so many of us, he put this goal on the back burner. He allowed time to cast a shadow. Like far too few of us, he stopped the clock and did it. And, he did it with nothing more than a few friends and some very inexpensive equipment.
From his Montreal basement, Cuthbert is releasing an Extended Play record and a handful of singles in 2017. The EP, a bombastic, rousing, and uplifting collection of no-frills rock and roll songs, is reminiscent of Oasis, Kings of Leon, The Who, Foo Fighters, The Killers, and The Black Keys. The singles to follow will be a more subtle, acoustic-based pack of songs, calling to mind Ryan Adams, Joel Plaskett, Elliot Smith, and the softer offerings of U2 or Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
So, I’ll ask again; what do you want to do before you die? What ‘someday’ have you been waiting to bring to life? Well, it’s time for you to get started. You have the perfect soundtrack.
